Bluetooth não funciona na nova instalação do Mint Maya

Eu tenho uma nova instalação do Mint Maya (MATE WM). Fora da caixa, o bluetooth O applet apareceu na barra de tarefas, mas não foi iniciado. Depois de um upgrade do apt, ele nem aparece mais na barra de tarefas. Tentando correr os programas apropriados falham diretamente assim:

$ mate-bluetooth-
mate-bluetooth-applet      mate-bluetooth-sendto
mate-bluetooth-properties  mate-bluetooth-wizard
$ mate-bluetooth-applet

O problema não está na verdade com o Mint falando com o bluetooth. Apenas os programas mate-bluetooth-* fornecidos pela mint não funcionam mais. A execução de qualquer programa de configuração bluetooth alternativo funcionará. por exemplo. sudo apt-get install blueman e executar blueman-manager .
