Eu tenho tentado usar um monitor externo com meu hp-envy-13 rodando o Ubuntu 18.04 por um tempo agora. Eu estava esperando que o kernel 4.19 teria o suporte, mas ainda parece não funcionar. O adaptador (usb-c para VGA) funciona perfeitamente com o meu Macbook, descartando qualquer problema de cabo / adaptador, mas não é reconhecido no Ubuntu.
Estou faltando alguma coisa aqui?
