Problema de resolução de monitor duplo - Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.3

Após muita pesquisa na rede, ainda não consigo configurar o segundo monitor para a resolução mais alta que eu quero (1920x1080).

Hardware: Intel ATOM x36 / 37 GPU de bordo que leva o monitor ASUS HDMI e o monitor DELL VGA (ambos monitoram 23 "de alta definição).

X -configure após parar o lightdm e falhar: Número de telas criadas não iguais a dispositivos detectados e o x.conf.new criado não é nada parecido com os exemplos na net (veja link )

xrandr --addmode VGA-1 1920x1080 funciona para a sessão, mas não permanentemente

Xorg.log está disponível, mas há muito tempo ...

Qualquer ajuda seria muito apreciada.
