Como posso exibir o prompt do modo de inserção à esquerda ao usar o zsh com o plugin no modo vi?

Estou usando o zsh com edição de linha de comando usando vi-mode e exibe o prompt da direita como <<< quando no modo INSERT do vi.

Existe uma maneira de exibir ou adicionar o prompt correto? O script vi-mode é bem curto, então eu o copiei aqui na íntegra.
