Tela preta após a instalação do driver da Nvidia

Este é o kernel mais recente disponível no repositório estável. Agora eu quero instalar os drivers da Nvidia para o meu GTS430 a partir do repositório do rpmfusion. Segui os passos descritos aqui .

Instale akmods e dependências. Como eu quero instalar o Steam, incluo a versão i686 das bibliotecas do Xorg.

# yum install akmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686 kernel-devel acpid

Fazer backup da antiga imagem do nouveau initramfs

# mv /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r)-nouveau.img

Criar nova imagem initramfs

# dracut /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r)

Após a reinicialização, vejo apenas uma tela preta em vez do login. Eu posso logar em um shell de texto usando Ctrl+Alt+F2 Aqui está o conteúdo do arquivo Xorg.log. (Eu cortei o material de detecção do modo VESA)

Eu sei que o driver estava trabalhando para essa configuração com uma versão anterior do kernel (algo em torno de 4.0.X). Isso é um problema de compatibilidade de software ou estou faltando alguma coisa?
