Eu não tenho absolutamente nenhuma idéia do que addmode estaria adicionando, dado que xrandr lista o modo já, mas addmode apenas falha, e de alguma forma o máximo ainda é 640x480. Como você pode ver, estou escrevendo a partir de uma resolução ridiculamente pequena para uma tela de 21 ".
Eu tenho tentado em vão encontrar uma solução desde que eu tentei instalar drivers nvidia, todas as soluções me falharam de uma forma ou de outra.
Estou usando o arco.
Atualização: o nvidia-xconfig gera um arquivo conf que faz com que o sistema não consiga inicializar a tela de login. Eu tenho que apagá-lo e correr startx para chegar até aqui. Eu acho que a parte relevante do Xorg.0.log sobre isso seria:

Além disso, executar o nvidia-settings me dá este erro:
You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run 'nvidia-xconfig' as root), and restart the X server.
Bem, aparentemente, isso é o que acontece se você instalar os drivers nvidia mais recentes, em vez daqueles que deveria. Totalmente contra-intuitivo, mas parece que eu precisava do 304.xx e não dos outros mais novos que eu realmente tentei primeiro funcionou.
