USB Stick reconhecido mas não montável

Eu tenho um dispositivo USB reconhecido pelo meu laptop, mas não há partição para montar. O dispositivo está listado em /dev/ as sdb , mas nenhuma partição /dev/sdb1 . fdisk -l também não exibe nada sobre /dev/sdb . Eu também tentei reler a tabela de partição com partprobe que não teve efeito. Eu não atualizei meu kernel, reiniciei o mesmo, ainda o mesmo resultado.

Também encontrei esta pergunta: Montando uma unidade USB que não é reconhecida que foi resolvido pelas respostas aqui bbs.archlinux.org , mas não me ajude desde que meu /etc/udev/rules.d/ esteja vazio.

dmesg envia o seguinte quando eu conecto o stick:

Como parece que o stick está quase morto, eu queria fazer um backup dos dados para que eu pudesse restaurá-los mais tarde. Eu encontrei este Como Faço para criar uma imagem bit-idêntica de um stick USB?

Então eu corri:

sudo dd if=/dev/sdb of=~/usb.img bs=4M

O que resultou em:

dd: failed to open ‘/dev/sdb’: No medium found

Eu também tentei o mesmo com ddrescue com o mesmo resultado:

ddrescue: Can't open input file: No medium found

Você sabe se há alguma maneira de acessar ou pelo menos salvar os dados no meu palito? Obrigado pela ajuda!

Eu também conectei o stick ao meu computador Windows. Ele poderia acessar o stick, mas não havia arquivos mostrando.
