Não é possível formatar com sucesso a unidade flash USB 64G no centos 6.2 / centos 6.3

Eu tentei, sem sucesso, formatar e montar uma unidade flash USB de 64G. O erro quando tento montar com o comando mount -t extfs / dev / sda / mnt

EXT4-fs (sda1): error loading journal"**

Eu estou querendo saber se isso é devido ao grande tamanho do disco USB. Este é um novo disco e estava funcionando bem com o sistema Windows NTFS. Eu apaguei a partição e tentei usá-la com centos mas ela não funciona Eu segui as instruções em Formatando drive USB no Linux

   1. fdisk -l says /dev/sda
   2. partition gets created properly with fdisk /dev/sda. 
   3. I did n and then chose primary partition 
   4. I also did p to print and also did v to verify the partition table. 
   5. I did w to write the partition. 
   6. I did mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda1 . And it does not show any problems
