O disco rígido mostra '193' setores defeituosos e faz um ruído de clique repetitivo

Eu tenho um disco rígido de 1 TB em um antigo iMac 2011 que recentemente começou a fazer um ruído de clique repetitivo. É semelhante a quando o CD-ROM tenta ler uma superfície 'arranhada' em um CD. Recentemente, o computador parou de inicializar no sistema operacional e continuaria tentando "carregar" o sistema operacional (mostrar o logotipo da Apple e o sinal de progresso que normalmente aparece durante a inicialização), mas nunca dá certo e, claro, eu continuo ouvindo o ruído alto no dirigir.

Eu inicio no Linux a partir de um pen drive e tudo funciona bem (na verdade, estou digitando isso no SO ao vivo). Então, eu estou supondo que o problema é a unidade de disco. Corri gparted e deletei todas as partições no disco rígido e todo o espaço de 1 TB agora é unallocated de espaço livre.

Quer dizer, vejo que existem 193 setores defeituosos, isso significa que o disco está além do reparo? Um software poderia ser usado para formatar a unidade de modo que os setores defeituosos sejam corrigidos ou não sejam mais usados, mas o restante do disco ainda está funcionando?

O "ruído de clique repetitivo" é a unidade que tenta reposicionar a cabeça de leitura / gravação, porque não consegue ler um bloco em particular. O CD-ROM faz isso pela mesma razão com um CD riscado: ele não pode ler uma parte específica, então ele reposiciona a cabeça do laser.

Vamos interpretar alguns dos valores SMART. Eles são normalizados para 100 e menor é pior.

O disco já precisa fazer muita recuperação de erros.

Então, o disco envelheceu e ficou ruim. Como você já limpou a unidade e aparentemente não precisa dos dados, jogue-os fora e pegue um novo. Se você continuar usando essa unidade, perderá alguns dados com certeza.
