Como montar disco rígido externo Western Digital

Estou usando o Debian. Não consigo montar o Western Digital My Passport Ultra no meu sistema. Eu tentei sudo mount /dev/sdbx /media/hdd . Funcionou bem para mim. Mas o problema é que eu tenho que repetir esse processo toda vez que eu reiniciar meu sistema. E é difícil para meus amigos montá-lo em sua máquina Linux também. (funciona bem no Windows!)

Por que ele não é montado automaticamente mesmo depois de reformatar a unidade em NTFS do Linux? Qual é a solução permanente?

O pacote usbmount , que eu já tinha instalado, funciona para mim. Isso chama o udev para montar e desmontar unidades.

Não estava funcionando para o meu disco rígido externo. Eu verifiquei o porquê, e acontece que ele apenas monta e desmonta sistemas de arquivos que estão listados na variável FILESYSTEMS , que é definida em /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf . Contudo, my drive usa o sistema de arquivos NTFS, mas ntfs não estava nessa lista. Depois que eu adicionei, a unidade funcionou.

Outro pacote que parece promissor é udevil . Eu não tenho esse trabalho ainda. Se eu fizer, adicionarei informações sobre isso aqui.

NOTAS:

  1. Defina VERBOSE=yes em /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf para mais informação.

  2. O udev é bastante tagarela. Isto é o que está escrito para /var/log/syslog quando a unidade está conectada.
