Falha ao iniciar O Apache HTTP Server - A unidade apache2.service falhou

Eu instalei recentemente o Apache2 via sudo apt install apache2 , mas ele não parece estar funcionando corretamente. Eu recebo este erro quando tento reiniciar o serviço usando sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart . Estou usando o Kubuntu 18.04.1 de 64 bits.

Esta é a razão:

(2)No such file or directory: AH02291: Cannot access directory '/var/log/apache2/' for main error log

Se esse diretório não existe, então como o Apache pode começar? E se isso acontecer, o usuário designado para o Apache não poderá acessá-lo, o que significa que as permissões do arquivo estão incorretas.
