Como obter o Vim para iniciar o NERDTree na inicialização, se nenhuma entrada for dada no Arch Linux

Eu tenho gvim-gtk2 instalado do meu próprio repositório Open Build Service ( aqui é) e a maioria das coisas funciona bem com isso. A única exceção é que meu ~/.vimrc serve para carregar o NERDTree na inicialização, quando nenhuma entrada é fornecida (por exemplo, é iniciada como vim ou gvim sem nenhum arquivo ou pasta especificada para abrir) e não é.

Em vez disso, esta é a tela que o Vim mostra na inicialização:

Aqui é o meu arquivo ~/.vimrc . Aqui estão as linhas no meu ~/.vimrc que estão destinadas a iniciar o NERDTree na inicialização do Vim:

essas linhas são emprestadas do arquivo NERDTree README . Em outras distros eu acho essa linha no meu ~/.vimrc carrega NERDTree na inicialização exatamente do jeito que eu quero, mas no Arch Linux não é. O /etc/vimrc file my vim-runtime do pacote é instalado:
