Resolvi de outra forma que encontrei on-line: removi a entrada de sincronização
/var/lib/dpkg/status,
fez
apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
novamente e tudo começou a funcionar bem
Eu tive problemas com a versão 1.2.x de insync , então pesquisei no site e baixei o arquivo deb da versão mais recente do meu debian de 64 bits. dpkg não conseguiu instalá-lo, mesmo definindo a opção --force-all , a saída é

Então eu disse "quem se preocupa com o insync, o nautilus tem a integração do Google Drive" , então eu decidi desinstalar o insync , mas não consegui. Agora, magicamente, eu não posso mais correr apt-get upgrade ou aptitude upgrade , eu recebo essa saída de erro:

Isso talvez porque o insync repo esteja inacessível (ou seja, para o registro, este ).
Além disso, não consigo abrir synaptic sem receber este erro:

é claro que a sincronização é a causa de tudo isso:
