Falha ao baixar informações de repositório - Software Updater [duplicate]

Eu corro o Ubuntu 14.04LTS, 64 bits. Tentei executar o Software Updater, mas tive a mensagem "Falha ao baixar informações de repositório. Verifique sua conexão com a Internet" ( captura de tela ).

Eu corri apt-get update , e isso me deu isso:

Eu tentei mudar o servidor espelho para vários outros, incluindo "Servidor principal", mas o resultado é o mesmo. O erro parece vir de /etc/apt/sources.list ou de /etc/apt/sources.list.d/* .

Também desmarcou todas as caixas "Outros softwares" do programa "Software e atualizações", apenas para ver se o problema é proveniente de um pacote não oficial, mas não parece. Alguma ideia para resolver isso?

Use no terminal desta linha:

sudo sed -i 's/\ non-free//' /etc/apt/sources.list

isso mudará as linhas a seguir em /etc/apt/sources.list e deixará de fora o non-free , para que fique assim:

deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty main restricted

.
.
.

deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates multiverse main restricted universe
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-security multiverse main restricted universe

non-free não é um componente do Ubuntu. Isso é o Debian. Os equivalentes do Ubuntu são restricted e multiverse . O Ubuntu tem apenas main , restricted , universe e multiverse .
