Deve funcionar em qualquer dispositivo com "synclient". Basta executar:
"synclient TapButton3 = 2"
isso define o botão do dedo médio para a ação de gesto configurada, ou seja, colar o teste selecionado.
Tenho o Ubuntu 14.04 Unity e ouvi dizer que deve haver gestos do sistema ativados por padrão. Rolagem com dois dedos está funcionando bem, no entanto, três gestos com os dedos não estão. Aqui está o xinput:

Do seu synclient
TapButton1 = 1 ;;;; Botão Esquerdo Um Dedo TapButton2 = 3 ;;;; Botão direito dois dedos TapButton3 = 0 ;;;; Nenhum botão atribuído a três dedos
Eu uso 1 Botão Dedo Esquerdo (1) 2 Dedos Médio (2) 3 Dedos Direito (3)
Mas agora meu touchpad confunde às vezes dois e três dedos.
