Xubuntu 16.04 O driver sem fio Broadcom BCM43 não funciona

Eu segui estas instruções e instalei o firmware b43-instalador. O WiFi começou a funcionar, mas de maneira muito incerta e às vezes muito lento. Eu tenho o Windows 7 como o segundo sistema operacional no mesmo laptop e WiFi funciona bem.

Também segui o conselho de perguntas semelhantes e reinstalei o bcmwl-kernel-source e verifiquei a lista negra.

Hoje, parou para funcionar completamente: vejo as redes sem fio, mas não consigo me conectar a elas (é só mostrar a roda de fiar todas as vezes).

Talvez o problema não esteja no próprio módulo WiFi, como agora também não consigo alterar nenhum driver proprietário: se eu selecionar outro driver da lista para a Nvidia nada muda, ou se selecionar 'não usar este dispositivo' para Broadcom também nada alterar. Os drivers selecionados anteriormente ainda estão marcados como selecionados.

Recebi a seguinte mensagem erro quando tentei alterar o driver ontem.

Meu sistema é o Xubuntu 16.04, instalado há uma semana.

Vale a pena tentar o NDISWrapper no meu caso?

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get remove --purge bcma
sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source

sudo sed -i 's/3/2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/*
sudo sed -i '/ipv6/{n;s/.*/method=ignore/}' /etc/NetworkManager/*/Ufanet_43
systemctl restart network-manager.service
