Estou usando um Lenovo Thinkpad E330 e acabei de atualizar para o Ubuntu 17.10 usando o Unity.
Antes da atualização, não houve problemas com as minhas chaves de mídia, mas agora todas parecem estar mapeadas para "XF86WakeUp". No entanto, no nível ACPI eles parecem estar ok.
Ao executar acpi_listen , a saída para mudo, VolDown e VolUp está correta:

A correção que funcionou para mim foi desativar o plug-in commands em compiz-settings-manager .
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager ccsm
commands , desmarque-o e feche o gerenciador. As minhas teclas de função começaram a funcionar imediatamente sem ter que reiniciar ou algo do género.
