Acontece que houve o "nolapic" nos parâmetros de inicialização do kernel. Remover isso resolveu o problema.

Eu tenho um PC rodando o Ubuntu 14.04 LTS com um i7-7700 cpu (4 núcleos de 8 threads), no entanto, apenas o obe dos núcleos é reconhecido. Eu já vi esse problema em outros posts, mas ainda não encontrei nenhuma solução. Aqui vou colocar algumas saídas que acho que serão úteis para solucionar problemas:
