Eu já bati um stick USB alguns meses atrás, desta vez é um pouco mais caro, então eu gostaria de consertá-lo (da última vez que o removi sem ter sido removido, desta vez não tenho idéia do porque é defeito) .
Meus dois sistemas Kubuntu não reagem ao usb stick, meus dois sistemas windows não podem detectá-lo corretamente (nem consertá-lo consequentemente).
Não é mostrado nem no gparted nem no lsblk.
Às vezes, o lsusb reconhece isso:

Se a unidade USB não for reconhecida como um dispositivo de armazenamento em massa (que pode ser o problema de acordo com a descrição da sua pergunta), analise o problema de acordo com este link,
Não é possível formatar meu drive USB. Eu já tentei com mkdosfs e gparted
