autenticação interativa com teclado (bloqueada?) em uma caixa Modern Honey Network Ubuntu 14.04?

Eu implantei uma Modern Honey Network para um projeto de curso. Eu tenho uma caixa do Ubuntu que hospeda o servidor MHN e agora eu implantei uma caixa Ubuntu 14.04 para hospedar vários sensores (Cowrie, Snort, etc.) No entanto, após o teste da força bruta ssh, eu não consigo mais logar no meu Ubuntu caixa.

Tanto o putty quanto o terminal Linux afirmam que o Ubuntu Box agora é Using keyboard-interactive authentication e, mesmo com o nome de usuário e a senha corretos, não consigo fazer login.

Eu tentei copiar e passar a senha, digitando-a manualmente, tentando fazer o login de diferentes endereços IP, etc. Ainda não tenho defesas ( fail2ban , denyhosts , etc.). Não há configuração de chave SSH, e eu não quero que haja. Apenas autenticação de senha.
