Estou recebendo um erro muito inútil ao tentar abrir as preferências de exibição na tela no Ubuntu deskop 15.10.
Após algumas pesquisas, descobri que isso poderia estar relacionado a exibições duplas. Eu tinha um monitor CRT antigo conectado à porta de vídeo onboard, então decidi desconectá-lo e reiniciá-lo usando sudo service lightdm restart , mas isso não afetou a AFAIK.
Não há quase nenhuma saída de log que eu possa dizer, o dmesg parece não indicar nada, e usar watch find /var/log -cmin 1 indica apenas que Xorg.0.log está sendo modificado, aqui está o que eu encontrei usando tail -n0 -f /var/log/Xorg.0.log :

Eu realmente não sei o que estou fazendo aqui, mas o Googling sugere que o XRANDR poderia ser um fator nesse quebra-cabeça, então eu o executei e é isso que ele produz:

Eu também tentei rodar sudo Xorg -configure :1 e isso pode ter revelado algo interessante, mas eu não sei de nenhuma maneira (eu subjetivamente escolhi cortar as partes desinteressantes, me avise se isso seria útil):

Isso estava funcionando bem antes de eu instalar o driver da nVidia para o meu cartão (coincidentemente é quando eu decidi ligar o outro monitor na outra porta integrada). Eu tenho o driver nVidia 352.41 instalado.
