Eu consertei esse problema alterando a seção "Screen" adicionando Virtual seguido do tamanho da tela em Modes no arquivo xorg.conf. Abaixo está um link para o meu novo arquivo de trabalho.
Eu sou um noob do Linux e poderia usar uma pequena ajuda com um problema.
Estou tentando obter uma resolução e um tamanho de tela muito específicos (720x480 @ 59,94) para minha caixa do Ubuntu 12.04.2-64 Desktop headless com uma placa nVidia GeForce 8400 GS.
A máquina é usada principalmente para o ssh e a GUI (remotamente). Os drivers restritos não funcionaram para minha situação. Eu criei e tentei mudar o arquivo xorg.conf de acordo com o homem, mas não estou conseguindo o resultado desejado. O arquivo xorg.conf editado exibe a área de trabalho na escala ou resolução desejada, mas a saída da tela sempre é de 1280x768. Quando tento adicionar o DisplaySize 720 480 à seção Monitor, ele quebra o arquivo e não produz uma área de trabalho.
