Acabei de instalar o Xubuntu 12.04.2. Minha placa de som é detectada:

Tudo é colocado no máximo em alsamixer
e nada é silenciado (todos os controles deslizantes estão no OO. Meus alto-falantes não funcionam, mas quando eu conecto um fone de ouvido eu ouço muito suavemente. Quando conecto meu som e coloco o som muito alto (3 blocos-de-reclamar-vizinhos barulhento) eu ouvi-lo em um nível normal, mas crepitante.
eu adicionei
options snd-hda-intel model=mbp5
amixer set IEC958 off
para no final de /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
.
Quando ainda não está funcionando, tentei tudo aqui: link

2 e 3: não parece um problema de permissão, o som está muito distante (veja o parágrafo de abertura).

7 Eu acho que é suportado. O Linux mint e o Xubuntu 13.04 não tiveram problemas com sons. Tudo funcionou da caixa
