Falha ao buscar mensagem durante a atualização

Eu digitei o comando

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

e obteve o seguinte erro

W: Failed to fetch http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/source/Sources  404  Not Found

e outras mensagens semelhantes

Anteriormente, eu havia digitado os seguintes comandos de uma resposta neste site Atualizando para uma versão não mais suportada

username-M:~$ sudo cp -v /etc/apt/sources.{list,backup}

O problema é que você está tentando usar o processo para atualizar a partir de uma versão sem suporte, quando sua versão ainda é suportada.

Isso é mostrado pela sua linha de erro

W: Failed to fetch http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/source/Sources  404  Not Found

Ele tem o nome de lançamento 'preciso', relacionado a 12.04, uma versão ainda suportada. Os repositórios precisos ainda estarão disponíveis em us.archive.ubuntu.com e ainda não foram movidos para o servidor old-releases .

Você pode redefinir seu arquivo sources.list a partir do seu backup com o comando:

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.backup /etc/apt/sources.list

Depois disso, seus comandos apt-get devem funcionar.

Editar:

Parece que o arquivo /etc/apt/sources.backup contém as mesmas linhas que o arquivo /etc/apt/sources.list , portanto seria prudente fazer outro backup desse arquivo sources.list e tentar corrigir a opção de us.archive.ubuntu.com to old-releases.ubuntu.com .

Faça um novo backup com:

sudo cp -a /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.secondbackup

E faça o contrário do comando anterior sed :

sudo sed -i 's/old-releases/us.archive/' /etc/apt/sources.list

Em seguida, para verificar se funcionou, basta atualizar o seu comando apt-get :

sudo apt-get update

Você deve redefinir seu repositório redefinindo o arquivo sources.list que estará em /etc/apt/sources.list

Visite link para gerar o novo arquivo sources.list de acordo com sua versão do Ubuntu

Faça backup de sources.list antes de fazer algo destrutivo, como um sed no local, substitua-o no futuro

e.g. sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.backup.
