Eu acho que isso pode ser uma resposta: 1) Eu instalei o Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver em uma partição vazia no mesmo HDD onde o Ubuntu 14.04 LTS está instalado. 2) Então eu brinquei com o GRUB2 e fiz o grub-install nesse disco rígido. Então, quando eu reiniciei, meu Ubuntu 14.04 veio com o kernel 4.4.0-109-genérico. Apenas no caso de ser importante, eu quero acrescentar que este sistema tinha duas partições com diretórios "/ boot / grub". Um deles foi criado há um ano atrás, quando eu instalei o Debian 8. Então, agora eu tenho três sistemas operacionais no mesmo disco, que é o que eu quero, e o Ubuntu 14.04 é meu padrão. Um efeito colateral que eu esperava é que o driver de vídeo está apagando minha tela periodicamente, o que eu também vi quando experimentei o Ubuntu 16.04 e o Ubuntu 18.04. Eu tenho a placa de vídeo AMD RS880 [Radeon HD 4250]. Eu vou ter que viver com isso a menos que eu possa encontrar uma maneira de obter o driver que funciona com esta placa de vídeo. Parece que seu sistema não foi atualizado para a pilha HWE. Você pode ver neste gráfico que 3.13 é o kernel do GA e, em agosto de 2016, os usuários foram aconselhados a atualizar para a pilha do HWE.

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS - Trusty Tahr
