USB adaptador wi-fi parou de funcionar, é culpa do dispositivo ou do Ubuntu?

Eu estava feliz em usar um adaptador wi-fi TP-LINK TL-WN722N USB no Kubuntu 14.04. Agora, de repente, parou de funcionar. Quando eu conecto, / var / log / syslog diz coisas como estas:

Ele estava funcionando bem, então eu atualizei o kernel (e algumas outras coisas, eu acho), desconectei-o, reiniciei e ele não funcionou mais. Eu tentei arrancar com o kernel anterior, sem alegria. Eu tentei em outro computador, onde ele também costumava trabalhar (mas já faz mais tempo desde a última vez que tentei lá), e é o mesmo.

Nada acende no dispositivo e suspeito que possa haver algo errado com ele e não com o sistema operacional. Há mais alguma coisa que eu possa fazer para descobrir qual é o problema?

Dado que você tentou em vários computadores e as luzes do adaptador não ligam quando conectado, é quase um problema de hardware.

Além disso, a linha usb 3-2: USB disconnect, device number 13 sugere que o adaptador está desconectando ou falhando quando o sistema operacional tenta ligar o rádio. Como essa mensagem é do driver USB, é praticamente um problema de hardware no adaptador.

Se você quiser depurar ainda mais, pode tentar instalá-lo em um computador Windows, mas parece que o adaptador está morto. Provavelmente hora de conseguir um novo.
