Erro de caminho no Ubuntu

Question

Estou tendo esta saída estranha sempre que digito $ PATH. A parte que diz Não existe tal arquivo ou diretório.

O comando deve ser:

echo $PATH

não apenas $PATH .

Aqui estão as saídas de um teste que acabou de ser feito por mim:

Apenas $PATH :

$ $PATH
-bash: /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games: No such file or directory

Agora echo $PATH :

$ echo $PATH
/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games
