Para aqueles que também estão tendo esse problema, consegui resolvê-lo obtendo um .nagstamon.conf de uma máquina centOS , apenas alterando a username e password .
Então, para corrigir isso, coloque o settings , credentials na primeira tela de nagstamon como de costume, depois disso, pressione OK . Não vai abrir, né?
Agora copie e cole em algum lugar o campo username e password , configfile , debug_file e app_ssh_options algo como:
username = eJwFwdEOaiAUANWP6iTEWfmo4VVg11NlL .. // and go on
password = aJwdawadsfcaErfdEtqWfdffaere .. // and go on
configfile = /home/username/.nagstamon.conf

Crie um novo arquivo .nagstamon.conf em sua pasta pessoal.
vim ~/.nagstamon.conf
chmod 664 ~/.nagstamon.conf
