Não é possível localizar nenhum erro de pacote

Apenas um segundo antes de fechar minha pergunta como duplicada, quero dizer que já examinei as outras perguntas semelhantes e não encontrei nenhuma resposta apropriada: (.

Eu tenho uma configuração limpa do Ubuntu 10.10, e estou tentando instalar pacotes pelo apt-get comamnd. Mas eu não posso fazer isso - E: Não é possível localizar erro de pacote é mostrado. Eu estou tentando os seguintes comandos:

sudo apt-get install build-essential, sudo apt-get insatll update etc.

Eu olhei em outros qouestions e vi que isso depende do arquivo sources.list - então estou postando seu conteúdo:

Primeiro de tudo, o Ubuntu 10.10 é totalmente sem suporte nos dias de hoje. É uma versão antiga do Ubuntu que você preferencialmente não deveria estar usando - você não receberá mais nenhuma atualização de segurança.

Em segundo lugar,

sudo apt-get install update

De fato lhe dará um erro (porque você está dizendo para instalar o pacote 'update', que não existe). O que você quer fazer é

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Isto irá atualizar a lista de pacotes dos repositórios (mas como o Ubuntu 10.10 está desatualizado, provavelmente não haverá muito para atualizar de qualquer maneira), e irá instalar quaisquer atualizações encontradas para o seu sistema.

Você também pode querer olhar no Synaptic para quaisquer pacotes para instalar. Se isso não funcionar, você pode querer alterar o seu espelho de download. Para fazer isso, vá para o Update Manager, clique em "Configurações", vá para a aba "Ubuntu software" e mude a caixa em "Download from". Se você clicar em "Outro", poderá selecionar qualquer servidor no planeta.

http://il.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

Agora deve apontar para

http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

Faça o mesmo para todas as instâncias.

Lembre-se de que, embora você possa instalar aplicativos desse modo, eles terão versões de vários anos.
