Como resolver problemas de dependências do apt

Meu sistema é o Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS

Quando eu corro

apt-get upgrade

Eu recebo:

E então eu corro:

apt-get install locales

o problema é:

Eu tive um problema semelhante de repente quando tentei instalar via apt-get ou dkpg -i .

Qual foi o truque para mim, como foi sugerido na saída da mensagem de erro:

apt-get install -f

Eu presumo que uma das minhas instalações recentes falhou e deixou meu sistema em um estado de dependências não atendido. Executando o acima instalado algumas bibliotecas, postar que eu era capaz de instalar o meu novo software.
