Erro: a instalação ou remoção de um pack de software falhou 14.04 LTS

Sou novo no Ubuntu (14.04 LTS) e agradeço qualquer ajuda. O gerenciador de atualização parece ter um problema, mas nenhuma mensagem de erro específica é fornecida, apenas as mencionadas acima. Eu tive um olhar através de tópicos semelhantes aqui, mas todos eles lidam com um problema específico .. Eu tentei atualizar através do terminal, mas ainda não há sucesso. Obrigado novamente por qualquer sugestão!

Experimente sudo apt-get autoclean && sudo apt-get autoremove

Após o processo terminar 

sudo apt-get install -f && sudo apt-get upgrade

Isso pode não ter nada a ver com o dpkg, pois o erro mostrado é erro de entrada / saída, isso pode significar que o arquivo do sistema está corrompido.Você pode verificar se o arquivo do sistema está corrompido executando 

fsck /dev/sXY

em que sXY é sua partição raiz, que pode ser encontrada usando lsblk (sua partição raiz é aquela que possui o ponto de montagem "/")
Se o número de setores defeituosos for baixo, tente isso

  1. faça um backup do arquivo status localizado em / var / lib / dpkg
  2. Executar pkexec /var/lib/dpkg/status
  3. E exclua a linha do pacote que está causando o problema (no seu caso libgudev-1.0-0:i386 )
  4. salve e saia.
  5. Em seguida, execute sudo dpkg --configure -a && sudo apt-get install -f
