Parece que você pode precisar de uma versão mais nova do Samba.
Os PPAs padrão do Ubuntu 14.04 incluem o Samba4.1. Aqui está o feedback do meu servidor em sudo apt-get install samba

Portanto, parece que o PPA do samba4.1 vem com o Ubuntu 14.04.

Instale o PPA, então você deve conseguir o Samba 4.3.
Tente remover sua instalação e reinstalação atual do samba.
