eu resolvi o problema removendo libcheese-gtk23, libcheese7 e libclutter-1.0-0, mas matei meu Linux com isso (eu poderia instalar e usar o Qt, mas depois da reinicialização, o gui estava morto).
se eu não instalar build-essential e libgl1-mesa-dev, o Qt me diz, "não pode encontrar -lGL".
Meu sistema: Zenbook 303LN, i7-4500u com HD4000, NVIDIA Gforce 840M, SSD de 256GB, 8GB de RAM, Ubuntu de 64 bits 14.04

O Clutter é necessário para executar os novos ambientes de desktop do GTK 3. Reinstale essas bibliotecas e tente executar sudo apt-get dist-upgrade para forçar tudo a atualizar, o que provavelmente permitirá que você instale a libgl sem quaisquer outros problemas.
