No meu caso, tive problemas semelhantes durante a atualização do Linux Mint 17.3 (Rosa) para o 18 (Sarah). Eu tive uma saída assim:

O comentário do Byte Commander me indicou a solução.
sudo dpkg --configure dbus-x11
reclamou que o pacote dbus não estava configurado. Então seguindo essa lógica eu fiz
sudo dpkg --configure dbus
e que parecia fazer o truque. Depois disso eu corri sudo apt-get -f install
e desta vez correu sem problemas.
