O gerenciador de rede continua tentando se conectar

Eu atualizei do Ubuntu 14.04 para o 16.04 LTS e meu wifi parou de funcionar. Eu segui este post e descobri que o meu Network Manager não estava rodando, então eu iniciei manualmente o meu gerenciador de rede usando o comando sudo service network-manager start this iniciou o Network Manager, mas quando tento conectar com a rede desejada ele falha após tentar por um tempo.
