Qual é a sintaxe correta do comando para alterar o tamanho / proporção do frame usando o ffmpeg?

Eu tenho um vídeo 720x480 (3: 2) que gostaria de alterar para 720x406 (16: 9) para corresponder aos outros vídeos que tenho para um site. Eu tentei várias combinações de comandos, incluindo:

ffmpeg -i myfile.mv4 -s 720x406 outfile.mp4
ffmpeg -9 myfile.m4v -c copy -aspect 16:9 outfile.mp4

O que eu acabo com um vídeo que reduziu para a altura especificada, mas não preservou a largura. Ele acaba em 608x406 ou por aí. Eu tenho jogado com várias versões de GUI do ffmpeg hoje, e eles parecem fazer a mesma coisa.

Quais seriam as opções / parâmetros apropriados para passar (supondo que terei mais controle através da linha de comando) para obter o tamanho de quadro desejado?
