Não é possível instalar o Windows SDK

Estou com dificuldades para instalar o SDK do Windows em minha máquina W7 de 64 bits.

Eu li Não consigo instalar o Windows 7 SDK , mas isso tem um erro diferente ao meu.

Eu só consigo encontrar a opção de baixar o SDK para o W7 e o .NET 4 (embora eu já tenha o 4.5 instalado). Então, eu corro o instalador e mostro que ele será instalado em C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1

Após alguns minutos, ele falha com o seguinte

A problem occurred while installing selected Windows SDK components.

Installation of the "Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7" product has reported the following error: Please refer to Samples\Setup\HTML\ConfigDetails.htm document for further information.

Então, faço o que ele diz e tento navegar para C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1Samples\Setup\HTML\ConfigDetails.htm , mas isso não existe. Na verdade, C: \ Arquivos de Programas \ Microsoft SDKs \ Windows \ v7.1 não existe. Eu tenho uma pasta chamada v8.0 embora.

Então, minha pergunta é: o acima sugere que eu deveria estar instalando o SDK para o Windows 8 (apesar de estar no W7 Ultimate)?

Verifique o arquivo de registros. Você pode precisar fazer um Controle F (encontrar) para a palavra fail .
