O que significa GRUB_DEFAULT = “12”?

Em nossos servidores Debian não irá inicializar no mais novo kernel instalado, e durante a solução de problemas eu me deparei com isto:

root@server:~# grep GRUB_DEFAULT /etc/default/grub     
GRUB_DEFAULT="1>2"

Eu não vi essa sintaxe antes. Alguém sabe o que isso significa?

De Manual GNU GRUB 2.02: padrão :

If the entry is in a submenu, then it must be identified using the number, title, or id of each of the submenus starting from the top level, followed by the number, title, or id of the menu entry itself, with each element separated by ‘>’

Significa que

GRUB_DEFAULT="1>2"

Representa a seguinte lógica:
Se a entrada 1 for um submenu, abra-o e selecione a entrada 2 de lá.

Qual é provavelmente o submenu avançado que leva a um kernel de recuperação / backup / recuperação.
