Não é possível conectar duas máquinas através de um cabo Ethernet

Eu tenho 2 máquinas Ubuntu, conectadas via cabo Ethernet, máquina A na interface eth0 e máquina B na eth6. Eu configurei o IP em ambas as máquinas.

ifconfig -a na máquina A (mostrando apenas para eth0):

Uma razão para tal problema é que você não está usando um cabo Ethernet cruzado ou um adaptador cruzado.
