É recomendável devido à atualização automática do dispositivo apontador Synaptics. Talvez não seja a melhor resposta, tome isso como uma solução alternativa:

Instale a ferramenta de código aberto AutoHotKey e remapear as chaves dessa maneira. Pode ajudá-lo, pelo menos temporariamente.

Não se esqueça de que a ferramenta deve estar em execução com privilégios de administrador. Sem eles, às vezes não funciona de forma confiável.
