O Ubuntu sugere um driver NVIDIA para mim, mas quando eu o instalo, não consigo inicializar normalmente. Eu tenho que inicializar em um modo à prova de falhas, em seguida, redefinir a configuração gráfica para o padrão e reinicie novamente. Agora eu estou preso no modo 800 x 600, mas eu gostaria de fazer melhor e tirar proveito da minha memória gráfica de 1GB :(. Por favor, deixe-me saber se você tiver dúvidas.
Eu tenho o mesmo problema com meu Sony Vaio vpcf13, esse problema será corrigido no próximo driver que será lançado pela nvidia, acho que é injusto tratar pessoas usando linux assim, se o probleme estivesse no windows eles vai consertar em poucas horas, mas o usuário do linux pode esperar algumas semanas.

Download and save the 260.19.29 driver installation script anywhere you find convenient. Then, make it executable
sudo chmod ugo+x
Reboot the computer, choose Ubuntu Safe Mode and boot into root shell. Then, change the runlevel
telinit 3
Run the installation script and follow the instructions on screen. That's all you need.
