Eu instalei recentemente o servidor Ubuntu 16.04 e tentei executar o vnc com o gnome-core rodando como o ambiente do usuário. Inicialmente, após a instalação eu só tenho a tela cinza clássico ao fazer logon no vnc e depois de um monte de googling eu consegui obter a janela vnc para exibir uma janela de terminal e uma janela de explorador de arquivos. Eu tentei tudo o que pude para obter a tela para mostrar a área de trabalho completa, mas eu já desisti e percebi que preciso pedir ajuda. Abaixo está o conteúdo do meu xstartup, o log e uma captura de tela do vnc.
