Como evito que o meu Wi-Fi caia fora?

Eu tenho um System76 Gazelle, gapz8, rodando o Ubuntu 14.04. Meu wifi continua caindo em intervalos aleatórios. Eu tenho um novo roteador, então eu não acredito que é o problema, mas eu estou em um prédio de apartamentos, então os sinais provavelmente estão lotados. Meu computador ainda registra o wifi como conectado, mas para de enviar e receber dados. Descobri que a desconexão do Wi-Fi e a reconexão corrigem o problema, mas isso pode acontecer novamente em minutos. Alguém entende o problema ou como consertá-lo? Fico feliz em fornecer mais informações, se isso esclarecer o problema, apenas me diga o quê.

Execute os seguintes comandos, uma linha por vez no terminal (CTRL + ALT + T):

O que isso faz? A opção 11n_disable desabilita os recursos do 802.11n. Adicioná-lo a /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf faz a mudança persistir após as reinicializações (porque ela fará parte da configuração do módulo). Os comandos modprobe -rfv estão removendo os módulos do kernel iwldvm e iwlwifi e, finalmente, a última linha modprobe -v está adicionando iwlwifi de volta.

Para saber o que são os módulos do kernel, você pode executar modinfo <module name> | grep description , que informará o seguinte:

iwlwifi é um driver WiFi Intel (R) Wireless para Linux (drivers Intel genéricos)

iwldvm é o driver AGN sem fio Intel (R) WiFi Link para Linux (drivers mais específicos)

Outras sugestões

Agora, verifique as configurações no roteador. WPA2-AES é preferido; não qualquer modo misto WPA e WPA2 e certamente não TKIP. Segundo, se o seu roteador for capaz de atingir N velocidades, você poderá ter mais sorte com uma largura de canal de 20 MHz na faixa de 2,4 GHz em vez de 20/40 MHz automáticos. Eu também tenho melhor sorte com um canal fixo, 1, 6 ou 11, em vez de seleção automática de canais. Depois de fazer essas alterações, talvez seja necessário reinicializar o roteador.

Altere a configuração sem fio do IPv6. Eu tentei com o meu laptop, que foi continuamente deixando cair a conexão, e até agora, o dia todo, eu não tive um único abandono! Parece estar funcionando. No Ubuntu, no canto superior direito, clique no ícone da rede sem fio que mostra a conectividade. No menu suspenso, na parte inferior, selecione "editar conexões" e, em seguida, destaque o nome da conexão sem fio. Escolha editar, selecione a guia IPv6 (à direita da guia IPv4) e altere a configuração de "automático" para "ignorar". Salvar e sair. Reinicie o seu PC. Edite as configurações sem fio, defina o método IPv6 para "ignorar".

Esta pode ser uma solução muito simples para esse problema. Minha conexão sem fio 12.04 caiu a cada poucos minutos quando conectado através da Comcast e, por vezes, também em hotéis. Isso aconteceu de forma consistente em diferentes configurações sem fio da Comcast. Em muitas outras configurações sem fio, era sólido (no meu local de trabalho, na Starbucks, por exemplo).

Depois de lutar com muitas correções complicadas, finalmente encontrei a solução acima: Sem mais desistências.

Meu hack rápido e sujo

Meu adaptador de wi-fi (Realtek RTL8188CUS) está zangado com o Ubuntu e nenhuma solução real funcionou, então eu faço ping no meu roteador a cada 5s:
