UPD: Tentei suspender o Linux Mint 17.3 XFCE ao vivo. Os sintomas eram exatamente os mesmos: o sistema não acordou.

Quando eu solicito que o sistema suspenda, ele funciona: o HDD pára de fazer ruído, a tela é desligada e o indicador de energia começa a entrar e a sair lentamente, como fazia no Windows. No entanto, quando tento retomar, a tela não liga novamente. O HDD é acionado novamente e o indicador de energia volta a estar constantemente ligado.
Para depurar isso, eu copiei uma versão de /var/log
antes da suspensão, depois suspendi, tentei um currículo e, quando ela falhou, desliguei a máquina mantendo pressionado o botão liga / desliga por 5 segundos. Então eu iniciei em um sistema ao vivo de um pendrive e copiei sobre um /var/log
atualizado. Aqui está a diferença entre as duas versões:

Não vejo nada de suspeito, com a exceção de que não parece conter nada sobre o currículo.
O Wiki do Gentoo menciona que "desabilitar o chip de segurança na BIOS" pode ajudar, mas eu não parece ter qualquer configuração na BIOS dizendo nada sobre "chips de segurança".
Qual poderia ser o problema e como eu poderia corrigi-lo?
