gksudo não conseguiu definir permissões

Eu sou novo no Linux, executando o Linux Mint 17 e estou tendo problemas para atualizar scripts e alterar as listas padrão usando o terminal.

Ao usar o comando gksudo gedit para editar um script, depois de salvar as alterações, feche o documento que o terminal lança:

(gedit:3633): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to store changes into '/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', but failed: Failed to create file '/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel.ZXW0LX': No such file or directory

Parece que o gksudo escreve as alterações no arquivo, mas não consegue salvá-las, pois o destino não existe. Ao observar as alterações que parecem ter ocorrido, mas nas sessões subsequentes (após o reinício), as alterações parecem ter sido revertidas. Isso não ocorre ao usar o sudo gedit.
