Cloned partion to new drive - IO espera esmaga servidor

Estou executando o Ubuntu 9.10 e recentemente precisei atualizar o HD. Eu comprei uma unidade de substituição de cache de 3 TB 7200 64mb. Criou duas partições, uma a cerca de 2GB e a outra para o restante. A máquina está rodando 64 bits e tem 24GB de memória RAM.

Usando o clonezilla, copiei a partição / da unidade antiga para a nova com a partição maior. Tudo parecia ter corrido bem. Mas saiba que quando executamos qualquer coisa, o sistema é esmagado pela atividade do HD e a utilização do servidor fica louca, mas tudo fica por dentro.

Agora eu irei executar algo que antes da alteração HD não causou problemas. Antes do lançamento, o sistema de processo estava com cerca de 40% de utilização. Depois de lançá-lo e depois de apenas alguns minutos ele está funcionando a 500% de utilização.

Não consegui executar o comando hdparm -Tt porque ficou preso em espera.
