Como se pode instalar a sagemath no Ubuntu?

Question

Eu tentei instalar o sagemath via linha de comando, mas encontrei um problema. Estou fazendo algo errado? Eu tenho o Ubuntu 13.10.

Eu só vi este post agora, mas o PPA parece não funcionar, eu apenas baixei a última versão binária do Sage Math 6.1.1 e instalei para todos os usuários (somente eu) no meu computador usando o link simbólico. Eu estou usando o Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty. Talvez você possa usar a versão da nuvem.

Consegui instalá-lo em uma nova instalação do Ubuntu 14.04 de 64 bits do PPA. No entanto, substituí o apt-get pelo aptitude. Isto é,

sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:aims/sagemath
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install sagemath-upstream-binary

Eu me pergunto se o truque era a) 14.04 ao invés de 13.10, b) 64 bits (amd64) ao invés de 32 bits (i386), c) aptitude ao invés de apt-get ou d) tempo curando todas as feridas. >
