Meu laptop está rodando o Fedora 25 (kernel 4.9.5) através de uma conexão sem fio. Às vezes minha linha xDSL cai e é restabelecida. Eu costumo deixar o ping correndo e isso mostra:

O que é intrigante é que continue assim para sempre até que eu reinicie o ping:
