Descobri. Use a porta 587 e defina a opção Connection Security para None em Outgoing Server(SMTP) => Security and Authentication .
Para os que estão se perguntando, veja como fica meu final:
Eu tenho o Windows 7 e executando o Outlook 2007 (com o Exchange MailServer). Eu quero mudar para o Thunderbird. Ter gasto algum tempo para pesquisar tanto no SU quanto no google sem realmente encontrar uma resposta sucinta para a minha pergunta. Quando configuro o thunderbird, recebi e-mails existentes na minha caixa de entrada e há um servidor de saída no Thunderbird. Mas quando tento enviar um e-mail, recebo:
The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server
xxx.mycompany.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing
SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are
correct and try again, or contact the server administrator.
Usando ProcessExplorer , descobri que Outlook usa um IP com uma porta estranha 52084 . Eu tentei este IP e porta como um servidor SMTP de saída no Thunderbird. E quando eu faço isso, o erro acima não aparece imediatamente, mas eu recebo uma barra de progresso indefinida mostrando o Thunderbird tentando enviar uma mensagem. Também tentei com as mesmas portas IP 25 , 465 e 587 , 585 sem sucesso. Quando eu uso a porta 995 , recebo o seguinte erro:
