O modo Monitor (AP) ou "master" não é suportado pela família de drivers rtl *, com a exceção de rtl8187 como visto aqui .
madwifi foi preterido pelos módulos ath5k e ath9k, que são direcionados ao Atheros e não ao RealTek.
Eu tento definir "modo mestre" para o chip USB wifi e obter erro.
Eu uso o Ubuntu 12.04.1

Se eu usar o driver madwifi, isso pode resolver o problema?
